PROPTECH-X : News Roundup – Seven Days of Articles & Analysis

Why software audits matter for Proptechs

In today’s hyper-competitive real estate technology landscape, scaling too quickly, or operating with outdated or inefficient systems can expose firms to risks far beyond lost opportunities. That’s why an increasing number of organisations are turning to a specialised audit-and-consulting services tailored for the Proptech sector.

One such offering is by Ascendix Tech, whose “Proptech Consulting & Software Audit” service we at Proptech-X fully endorse, as it helps real estate technology companies assess their systems, processes and product roadmaps in order to avoid technical debt, mitigate risk and accelerate time-to-market.

To see if they are a fit for your current objectives, we will look at how their services operate, the benefits they bring to the table, and why proptech players should take notice.

Why a software audit matters for Proptech

In the real-estate domain, technology solutions must do more than work—they must scale, integrate and deliver consistently. PropTech firms therefore face a unique set of pressures: legacy platforms, multiple integrations across leasing/sales/asset-management, high expectations from modern users, and the need for rapid innovation (including AI, data-analytics, mobility).

But without periodic audits;

Technical debt can silently accumulate fragile code, brittle integrations, poor-performing modules.

Deployment and roll-out risks rise, (long releases, unstable features, as company scale grows.

UX/UI can fall behind modern expectations, reducing adoption or retention.

Hidden vulnerabilities (security, compliance, scalability) threaten business continuity.

The Ascendix Way

Ascendix summarises the promise of audit work as: “an unbiased audit of your current product to identify risks and define growth points for a successful product launch or scale-up.” When growth is the imperative, but risk is ever present, a formal audit becomes a strategic necessity.

What the audit covers

The service can be broken down into four distinct audit and consulting categories:

Development Process Audit – evaluating your project-management, QA/BA operations, architecture, deployment pipelines.

Software Audit – deep-dive into architecture, database design, code quality, integration layers, UI/UX, performance and security.

Software Development Consulting – advising on solution architecture, tech-stack selection, modernization strategy, roadmap planning.

AI Readiness & Implementation Consulting – assessing your capabilities, infrastructure, data maturity and recommending how to embed AI in your workflows.

How commercial real estate owners using AI get tangible ROI

Week 23: AI Use Cases in CRE – 10 Ideas from PPP You Can Start Now

In this weekly series, we explore how the commercial real estate industry is being transformed by data and digital infrastructure. Guided by the principles in Peak Property Performance, we unpack a new idea every week to help owners unlock value, reduce risk, and future-proof their portfolios. Learn more about OpticWise and Bill Douglas, the authors of this series.

Artificial intelligence has taken center stage across nearly every industry—but most commercial real estate owners still see it as something on the horizon.

The truth? AI is already delivering results in CRE. But only when it’s paired with the right data and digital infrastructure (DDI).

In Peak Property Performance, we introduced a practical framework for AI adoption rooted in operational value, not hype. Below are ten real-world use cases owners can act on today, based on DDI readiness and asset type.

1. Predictive Maintenance

Reduce downtime by using AI to monitor patterns in HVAC, elevator, and mechanical systems. Alert your team before failure—not after it costs you.

2. Utility Optimization

Pair real-time energy consumption data with AI algorithms to identify anomalies, optimize baseloads, and minimize peak demand charges.

3. Tenant Sentiment Analysis

Mine work order notes, tenant communications, and review data to uncover friction points, satisfaction trends, or at-risk tenants.

4. Risk Scoring for Insurance

AI models can evaluate the frequency, severity, and detectability of historical issues—feeding into risk assessments that support premium discounts (as discussed last week).

5. Occupancy & Space Usage Forecasting

Use sensor data and historical traffic to predict how and when different zones are used. This supports dynamic cleaning, staffing, and energy decisions.

Symple welcomes industry veteran Tom Goy to drive growth and engagement

Proptech for lettings industry, scales up their sales team with a familiar face

Earlier this month Symple announced the appointment of Thomas (Tom) Goy as their new BDM, a seasoned professional with over 20 years’ experience in the UK property industry, he is the latest addition to its expanding team.

Goy has built a respected career across some of the country’s most influential property portals,  Rightmove, Zoopla, and OnTheMarket, where he worked directly with estate and letting agents of all sizes. This extensive background has given him a deep understanding of the pressures and priorities facing today’s property professionals.

At the heart of his approach is a simple belief: property is about people,  not just bricks and mortar. That ethos aligns perfectly with Symple’s mission to simplify compliance and reduce administrative strain for agents and landlords through smart, intuitive technology.

Since joining Symple, Goy has already been engaging with agents across the UK to understand their workflows and highlight where the platform adds value. Commenting recently on LinkedIn, he reflected on the most common response he’s heard so far:

“We already have a CRM and great local contractors, so we don’t need another platform.”

Tom acknowledged this as “a fair point,” but he explained that Symple isn’t designed to replace existing systems — it’s designed to complement them:

“We don’t replace your CRM — we lighten the admin that comes with chasing renewals, scheduling, and paperwork. We don’t replace your trusted contractors — you can still use them. We simply give you a safety net when things get busy, someone’s away, or a job needs urgent cover.”

‘Symple gives agents a single place to manage and track compliance tasks, ensuring nothing “slips through the cracks.” Some agencies use the platform as a day-to-day compliance partner, while others rely on it as an overflow solution during peak periods.

Tom Goy (Pictured) summarised the platform’s appeal succinctly: “Book gas safety certificates, EICRs, EPCs, and callouts in one click – we’ll take care of reminders, scheduling, and paperwork from start to finish.”
